Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was the leading American to be canonized as unembellished saint. She was raised Episcopalian, on the other hand later converted to Catholicism. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton was born into a well-to-do Episcopalian family in New York Nous on August 28, 1774.
